Passport for guest citizens

“The passport is the noblest part of a person,” Bertolt Brecht once noted. For the authorities, it’s not enough that someone carries their face on their head. They must also carry papers, complete with a photo and properly stamped.

As a child, when I looked at maps, I saw borders drawn in. I imagined that countries were surrounded by thick red walls and round red towers. Only later did I realize that such borders don’t exist. Borders are abstract drawings, conceived by political minds. These designs dictate that beyond their national borders, people are nowhere at home; in the vast majority of the world, they are strangers, with no voice and no right to participate.

In the Republic of Hüseyin, all people are guest citizens, duly documented with the “Photo ID for Guest Citizens.”
